The Perry County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society (OGS) was chartered in 1982.

Benefits of Membership: Members receive our quarterly newsletter, "The Heirlines" and are entitled to free queries. Non-member queries are $1 each. Members are encouraged to submit ancestor charts to be placed on file in our collection.

Meetings: Meetings are held on the 2nd Saturday of the month at 12:30 PM at the Perry County District Library, 117 S. Jackson Street, New Lexington, Ohio.

Collection: Our collection is housed in the Genealogy Room on the lower level of the Perry County District Library, 117 S. Jackson Street, New Lexington, Ohio. The room is open during library hours. Call the library at 740-342-4194 for current hours or visit their website. The library is closed Sundays and holidays.

Dues:   Single Membership   $12

             Joint Membership     $15
             (1 address, 1 newsletter)

Membership is from January through December. Members joining in the middle of the year will receive the back issues for that year.

Perry County Pioneers
Perry County Pioneers is a way to honor those people who settled in Perry County, Ohio prior to 1830. These people – farmer or doctor, coal miner or lawyer, poor or rich – made lasting contributions to Perry County’s history and culture. It is also a way to honor those people who take the time to research their families, document the results, and share it with others. The deadline to enter is October 31. Click here for more details. Perry County
Perry County, Ohio was formed in 1818 from Fairfield, Muskingum & Washington Counties. The county seat is New Lexington.

Perry County is made up of fourteen townships: Thorn, Hopewell, Madison, Reading, Clayton, Harrison, Jackson, Pike, Bearfield, Pleasant, Monday Creek, Salt Lick, Coal & Monroe.

Perry County is bordered on the north by Licking County, on the south by Hocking & Athens Counties, on the east by Muskingum & Morgan Counties, and on the west by Fairfield County.
